N Brass Bogie fitted to a Class 5

LMS Loco bogie for LMS/BR 4-6-0 locos

These bogies have correct diameter wheels (6.2mm/3ft) with see through spokes and blackened rims.  Wheelbase is 6ft 6inches.  The etch has correct profile frames and is designed for ease of assembly, wheels are not removed from axles during assembly.

The photographs show a LMS bogie fitted to a Poole built Farish Class 5.

Replacement bogies can be fitted to proprietary, kit built or scratchbuilt locos.  If fitted to proprietary locos care needs to be taken,  the correct diameter wheels can foul the underneath of the footplate and/or the inside of the cylinders.  Some removal of material may be necessary.  Locos fitted with these bogies may not be able to negotiate 9inch radius curves.

Bogies are available as a kit with wheels (2368) or built ready to fit (2369).  Kit needs solder and paint to complete.

LMS Class 5 4-6-0 fitted with bogie kit 2368.

The LMS bogie kit 28468 has a wheelbase of 6ft 6inches, correct for the LMS 4-6-0's.  LMS Duchess Pacifics had bogies with a wheelbase of 7ft 6inches (kit 28466).  On a layout with tight curves the short wheelbase bogie can be the better choice.
